Lady Ingrid, a locomotive

More on water

If Lady Ingrid was one of the huge locomotives which used to pull express trains on main lines, she would use an incredible 140 litres of water every minute! This would mean that her tank would run dry in less than 43 minutes!

Main-line locomotives carried water in a tender.
They could carry enough water for long journeys which would last several hours.
They also carried coal in the tender.
